Creamline secures top spot, Petro Gazz gets no. 2 ahead of qualifying round

Creamline and Petro Gazz secured the top two spots in the PVL All-Filipino Conference as they capped their respective campaigns in the preliminary round on Thursday at the Philsports Arena.

The Cool Smashers bounced back after falling to PLDT last Saturday and defeated Galeries Tower, 25-15, 26-24, 25-19.

Veterans Tots Carlos and Alyssa Valdez led the Cool Smashers with 18 and 16 points apiece, while Roselle Baliton led the High Risers with 10 points.

Petro Gazz, afterwards, swept Nxled, 25-19, 25-14, 25-17.

Brooke Van Sickle had 17 points, while MJ Phillips had 14 points for the Angels. Lycha Ebon, on the other hand, had 12 points for the Chameleons.

With their respective wins, Creamline and Petro Gazz both improved to 10-1 ahead of the qualifying round, but the Cool Smashers locked in on the top spot due to a higher set ratio.

Galeries and Nxled, meanwhile, both slipped to 1-10.

The final day of preliminaries will see ZUS Coffee go against PLDT and Chery Tiggo face Choco Mucho at the City of Passi Arena in Iloilo.
