PVL: Jema Galanza stars in Creamline's four-set romp of rival Choco Mucho

PVL: Jema Galanza of the Creamline Cool Smashers

Jema Galanza proved to be a lethal weapon as Creamline eked out a 25-22, 25-20, 30-32, 25-20 victory over rival Choco Mucho to remain spotless in the PVL All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The veteran outside hitter posted 24 points, highlighted by a flurry of attacks late in their third set comeback attempt, to help the Cool Smashers improve to 3-0 while the Flying Titans dropped to 2-3.

Galanza also grabbed 17 excellent receptions and nine digs to complete an all-around outing while Michele Gumabao starred as well with 22 markers anchored on 19 attacks and three blocks.

After winning the first two sets, Creamline slowed down in the third and found itself down by eight after a Gumabao attack error that sent Choco Mucho to a 21-13 lead.

But Galanza refused to surrender, fueling a personal 5-0 run capped by a powerful attack over two blockers that sliced the gap to just three at 18-21. Creamline would eventually tie things up at 23-all and secure the match point at 25-24 after an Alyssa Valdez hammer.

Choco Mucho, however, turned to Sisi Rondina in spoiling the party for Creamline as the former UST standout converted three points for a 30-all deadlock before back-to-back errore from Creamline had the two teams going to a fourth set.

But Galanza made sure to finish the business this time around, unleashing a cross crout attack straight to Rondina for a comfortable 24-20 match point as Honey Royse Tubino committed a costly attack fault to give Creamline the win.

Rondina paced Choco Mucho with 24 points laced with 11 receptions while Cherry Nunag chipped in 10 markers.
