PVL: PLDT takes solo top spot with sweep of Capital1

PVL: PLDT High Speed Hitters volleyball

PLDT cruised to yet another sweep victory, dominating Capital1 this time around with a 25-17, 25-20, 25-17 win to stay undefeated in the PVL All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at the PhilSports Arena.

The High Speed Hitters, who were coming off a similar 3-0 victory over Galeries last Tuesday, leaned on Savi Davison who churned out 17 points anchored on 16 attacks and two blocks alongside seven receptions as they improved to solo top spot with a 3-0 card.

The Solar Spikers, on the other hand, remained in the hunt for that elusive victory as they fell to a 0-3 record.

Erika Santos and Fiola Ceballos provided the help with 11 points apiece with the latter also collecting 16 digs.

"[I'm] happy na lahat ng napag-usapan namin ay na-execute so 'pag gano'n naman, regardless ng result, happy kami kasi nagawa namin 'yung trabaho namin. So bonus na lang na straight sets," PLDT coach Rald Ricafort said.

[I'm happy that we were able to execute what we prepared so regardless of the result, we're happy because we did our job. So it's just a bonus that we won in straight sets.]

In the second game, Chery Tiggo survived a tight first set before taking control in the next two to eke out a 26-24, 25-15, 25-18 triumph over the struggling Nxled and bounce back from a previous loss to Cignal.

Princess Robles took charge with an all-around performance of 15 points, eight digs, and three receptions while veteran Aby Maraño posted 11 markers built on eight attacks, two aces, and one block.

The Crossovers improved to 2-1 while the Chameleons dropped to 0-3.
