Cignal sets up all-Filipino PVL Invitational finals vs. Creamline

Cignal gutted out a hard-fought 25-23, 19-25, 25-23, 22-25, 15-11 over guest team Kurashiki Ablaze to reach the finale round of the 2024 PVL Invitational on Wednesday at the PhilSports Arena. 

The HD Spikers now stand in the way of grand slam-seeking Creamline when they slug it out in the knockout championship round on Thursday at the Smart Areneta Coliseum. 

Import MJ Perez ran the show for Cignal, which finished with a bronze medal during the recent Reinforced Conference, as the Venezuelan spiker erupted for 36 points anchored on 34 attacks and two of their nine blocks while also grabbing 21 receptions. 

Ces Molina provided the local support with 13 points while middle blockers Jacqueline Acuna and Ria Meneses each chipped in 10 markers. 

Kurashiki, the reigning champion after ruling the 2023 edition against Creamline, banked on Cing Low Mei who posted 24 points while Saki Tanabe chipped in 19 markers in the losing cause. 

All is not lost for Kurashiki as it will still take on Est Cola in the battle for bronze.
