Creamline blanks Akari to rule PVL Reinforced Conference
Multi-titled Creamline gave Akari its first and only loss in the conference, all the way to reigning supreme in the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference on Wednesday at the PhilSports Arena.
The Cool Smashers displayed their championship poise and experience, pulling off a 25-15, 25-23, 25-17 victory to claim their second title in an import-laced contest and record ninth overall PVL crown.
Relying on the heavy attacks of MVP frontrunner Bernadeth Pons and veteran middle blocker Bea de Leon, Creamline started things off with a 7-0 run to close out the opening frame. They limited the Chargers to just six attacks in that period.
It looked like Creamline was on its way for another breezy win in the second set, but Akari, who was trying to preserve its unbeaten 10-0 record before this game, overcame a 16-9 deficit and unloaded a 13-6 rampage to tie things up at 22-all.
However, Creamline showed why it's the winningest club in PVL history by finding the right plays to end the set and secure a 2-0 advantage.
