Akari survives Farm Fresh, marches to PVL semis

Akari continued its flawless run, overcoming a first set hiccup to survive a tight four-set win against Farm Fresh, 17-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-23, and advance to the semifinals of 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference on Saturday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.

The Chargers, who swept the elimination round, now await the winner of the semis clash between PLDT and Chery Tiggo to determine their next opponent.

Akari had to hold off a late comeback attempt from the Foxies, who unleashed a 3-0 rampage capped by a Louie Romero ace as they cut the deficit to just one, 20-21.

But Akari import Oly Okaro swung hard from the opposite side to once again give her side a 22-20 lead. Yeny Murillo and Caitlyn Viray, though, answered with respective hits to force a deadlock.

Grethcel Soltones broke that tie with two consecutive power attacks while a Camille Victoria one-man block on Kate Ssantiago put the finishing blow for the Chargers, who are entering their first-ever semis appearance in franchise history.
