Alas Pilipinas stumbles vs. Thailand, remains winless in SEA V.League

Alas Pilipinas Women fell to world no. 14 Thailand in straight sets, 25-12, 25-18, 25-10, to remain winless in the first leg of the 2024 SEA Women's V.League on Saturday at the Vinh Phuc Hall in Vietnam.

Five-time defending champion Thailand, which is also the third best team in Asia after China and Japan, improved to 2-0 in the three-day tournament while the world no. 56 Philippines dropped to a 0-2 hole.

No players from Alas Pilipinas produced double digit marks with the National University Lady Bulldogs tandem of Bella Belen and Alyssa Solomon tallying five points each while Faith Nisperos and Thea Gagate chipped in four markers apiece.

Thailand, meanwhile, banked on its usual suspects to put away the Filipinas.

Chatchu-on Moksri top-scored the Thais with 11 points anchored on seven attacks, three aces, and one block while veteran outside hitter Ajcharaporn Kongyot and Pimpichaya Kokram chimed in with 10 and nine markers, respectively.

Alas Pilipinas will look to end its first leg run against Indonesia on Sunday.
