Alas Pilipinas falls to Vietnam to open campaign in SEA V.League


The Alas Pilipinas women's team fell to Vietnam, 25-23, 20-25, 25-22, 25-21, to open its campaign in the 2024 Southeast Asia Volleyball League on Friday in Vietnam.

Alyssa Solomon led the Philippines in scoring with 20 points, all from attacks, while Eya Laure added 13 points. Thea Gagate and Vanie Gandler had 12 points apiece in the loss.

Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, on the other hand, led Vietnam with 27 points from 25 attacks and two blocks, while Tran Thi Thanh Thuy had six points.

The game came almost a month after the two team's face-off in the FIVB Challenger Cup which Vietnam also won.

The Philippines will face Thailand next on Saturday.
