Alas players Thea Gagate, Julia Coronel banner inaugural PVL Rookie Draft aspirants list


Alas Pilipinas players Thea Gagate and Julia Coronel banner the list of 47 aspirants for the inaugural PVL Rookie Draft.

The league released the list of aspirants on Saturday weeks before the draft set on July 8.

De La Salle University's Gagate and Coronel were part of the squad which bagged the historic bronze medal for the Philippines in the AVC Challenge Cup.

Joining them in the draft are teammates Maicah Larroza and Leila Cruz.

Among the other aspirants are UAAP finalist Pierre Abellana of University of Santo Tomas, Lucille Almonte and Ishie Lalongisip of Adamson University, Steph Bustrillo of University of the Philippines, Dara Nieva of University of the East, and Ateneo de Manila's Roma Mae Doromal.

NCAA players also joined the draft including Colegio de San Juan de Letran's Daisy Melendres and Bay Anne de Leon, Arellano University's Dodee Batindaan, Robbie Mae Matawaran, Lorraine Pecana, Donnalyn Paralejas, and Charmina Dino, Emilio Aguinaldo College's Cath Almazan, Lyceum of the Philippines University's Camille Belaro, San Beda University’s Maxine Tayag and Lalaine Arizapa, San Sebastian College-Recoleto’s Jewelle Bermillo, and University of Perpetual Help System DALTA’s Razel Aldea and Sandra Dayao.

Players from other parts of the country and overseas Filipinos also threw their hats in the ring.

Prior to the draft, the league said it will hold a Draft Combine on June 25 to 26.
