Former PVL import Janisa Johnson passes away at 32
Janisa Johnson, a former Premier Volleyball League (PVL) import, passed away on May 25. She was 32.
Her death was posted on her official Instagram account on Tuesday. Although the cause of death was not confirmed, Johnson previously shared he was battling cancer and had to undergo 12 sessions of chemotherapy.
Johnson saw action in the PVL during the 2019 Reinforced Conference, where she steered the Petro Gazz Angels to the title against then reigning champion Creamline. She was also hailed the Finals MVP for helping the core of Djanel Cheng, Jonah Sabete, Steph Mercado, and Cherry Nunag unseat the Cool Smashers.
Before that, Johnson also reinforced the BaliPure-NU, guiding the likes of then rising stars Joyme Cagande, Roma Doromal, Bella Belen, Jen Nierva, Faith Nisperos, and Ivy Lacsina.
