Alas Pilipinas lineup for 2024 AVC Challenge Cup for Women
The Philippine National Volleyball Federation on Monday introduced the Alas Pilipinas team which will compete in the AVC Challenge Cup for Women from May 22-29 at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila.
The squad will be led by team captain Jia De Guzman, and present also in the press conference in Makati were Premier Volleyball League (PVL) standouts Sisi Rondina, Jen Nierva, Dawn Macandili-Catindig, Eya Laure, Faith Nisperos, Fifi Sharma, Vanie Gandler, Dell Palomata, and Cherry Nunag.
Collegiate standouts such as Angel Canino, Thea Gagate, Julia Coronel of De La Salle University and National University rookie Arah Panique were also present.
Panique replaced Casiey Dongallo who is recovering from an injury.
Jorge Souza De Brito will be at the helm of the national team.
Recently-crowned UAAP champions Bella Belen and Alyssa Solomon were initially part of the pool, but will miss the upcoming tournament, as confirmed by National University coach Norman Miguel due to remaining school work, and rehabilitation and rest from the season which concluded.
The nationals will open its campaign on May 23 against Australia.
