Belen, Canino part of young Alas Pilipinas lineup for AVC Challenge Cup
UAAP standouts Bella Belen and Angel Canino were included in the young lineup of Alas Pilipinas for the upcoming AVC Challenge Cup for Women.
The names were revealed by the Philippine National Volleyball Federation in a press conference on Wednesday, along with the team's new moniker.
Belen, who was awarded her second Most Valuable Player plum in the UAAP on Wednesday, will be joined by teammate Alyssa Solomon, while Season 85 MVP Canino will be joined by fellow Lady Spikers Julia Coronel and Thea Gagate. Casiey Dongallo rounded up the list of collegiate players called up for the national team.
PVL players were also named in the roster such as Choco Mucho's Sisi Rondina and Cherry Nunag, Chery Tiggo's Eya Laure and Jen Nierva, Akari's Fifi Sharma and Faith Nisperos, Cignal's Dawn Macandili-Catindig and Vanie Gandler, PLDT's Dell Paolomata, and Filipino import to Japan Jia de Guzman.
The AVC Challenge Cup for Women will be held at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum on May 22-29.
The Philippines is grouped with Chinese Taipei, India, Iran, and Australia in Pool A of the tournament.
