NU sweeps UST, inches closer to UAAP men's volleyball 4-peat
National University swept University of Santo Tomas, 25-17, 26-24, 25-19, to inch closer to its fourth straight UAAP men's volleyball crown in Game 1 of the Season 86 finals on Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Nico Almendras delivered the game-winner after Gboy de Vega saved a match point before the Bulldogs drew first blood.

Almendras had 16 points anchored on 14 attacks, while Mhicaelo Buddin also added 16 points. Leo Aringo had 15 points in the Game 1 win.
Meanwhile, Josh Ybañez was the only double-digit scorer for the Golden Spikers with 11 points.
Game 2 of the finals will be on Wednesday.
