Creamline overcomes Choco Mucho, inches closer to PVL All-Filipino crown
The Creamline Cool Smashers overcame the Choco Mucho Flying Titans, 24-26, 25-20, 25-21, 25-16, in Game 1 of the PVL 2024 All-Filipino Conference best-of-three finals on Thursday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum to move a win away from the title.
In front of a crowd of 17,457, Creamline completed a come-from-behind win in the fourth set as it trailed 9-5 before the set was tied at 13.
A net touch error from Choco Mucho handed the lead to the Cool Smashers before the latter took control of the set and led by seven 21-14, and eventually took the win.
Jema Galanza had 20 points anchored on 18 attacks and two blocks, and 13 excellent receptions, while Tots Carlos had 17 points.
Sisi Rondina, meanwhile, had 27 points, while Royse Tubino had 15 points for the Flying Titans.
Earlier, Petro Gazz drew first blood against Chery Tiggo in the bronze medal series.
Should it win Game 2 on Sunday, Creamline will defend the title it won in last year's All-Filipino conference.
