NU downs La Salle, heads to 9th straight UAAP Finals stint

National University took down De La Salle University, 25-23, 22-25, 25-22, 25-21, on Wednesday in the UAAP Season 86 men's volleyball Final Four at the Smart Araneta Coliseum to advance to its ninth straight finals stint.

Mhicaelo Buddin paced the Bulldogs with 23 points, while Nico Almendras had 14 points as the twice-to-beat Bulldogs notched a ticket to the finals once again. Joshua Retamar proved to be crucial for the Bulldogs with 21 excellent sets on top of his five points.

NU will wait for the winner of the decider between Far Eastern University and University of Santo Tomas to determine its finals opponent.

JM Ronquillo had 27 points, while Vince Maglinao had 17 points as the Green Spikers ended their campaign.

National U has won the last three trophies in men's volleyball.
