Bryan Bagunas signs with Cignal to mark Philippine homecoming
Bryan Bagunas is bringing his act back to the country as he signed with the Cignal HD Spikers in Spikers' Turf, ending years of playing for various teams overseas.
The HD Spikers revealed Bagunas' homecoming on Tuesday as the high-flying open spiker is tipped to immediately fill the void left by Marck Espejo, who parted ways with the club after five years.
The 26-year-old Bagunas is coming off an overseas stint that spanned from 2019 to earlier this year, having played with Oita Miyoshi Weisse Adler in the Japanese V. League before reinforcing Win Streak in Taiwan.
He will play in a local league for the first time since early 2019, where he suited up for the Philippine Air Force. Prior to that, he was part of the Sta. Elena-NU squad.
The former National University standout will join a stacked Cignal side that already features other stars like Joshua Umandal, JP Bugaoan, Wendel Miguel, and Lloyd Josafat.
Bagunas' arrival just gave Cignal's title redemption bid a huge boost as they look to defend their crown in the Open Conference while the powerhouse squad eyes to redeem itself following a runner-up finish in the Invitational Conference last year.
