PVL: Grethcel Soltones leaves Petro Gazz, brings act to Akari
Grethcel Soltones has decided to leave Petro Gazz after three seasons to bolster Akari in the upcoming 2024 season of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) in February.
Soltones had been a key cog in the Angels' run for the past years, where the former San Sebastian College-Recoletos standout made impressive contributions that led to their gold medal run in the 2022 Reinforced Conference.
Soltones and the Angels then copped silver medal finishes in both the 2022 Open Conference and 2023 First All-Filipino Conference alongside teammates Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Remy Palma, and Jonah Sabete.
However, the 5-foot-8 wing spiker is ready to embark on a new chapter in her volleyball career as she signed with the Chargers.
Soltones, who collected 152 points last conference, will join the Akari core led by Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Faith Nisperos, Fifi Sharma, and Michelle Cobb as they look to bounce back from a seventh place finish in the previous 2023 2nd All-Filipino Conference.
PVL teams announced major movements in the past few days with the likes of Ara Galang and Aby Maraño signing with Chery Tiggo, and Choco Mucho parting ways with Caitlyn Viray.
