PVL: Choco Mucho parts ways with Caitlin Viray; Cignal lets go of three veterans
The busy offseason continues in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) as two teams have parted ways with several key players ahead of the 2024 season that is slated for kickoff next month.
Choco Mucho, which closed out 2023 with a bridesmaid finish in the 2nd All-Filipino Conference, bade goodbye to star opposite hitter Caitlin Viray. Cignal, meanwhile, let go of the troika of Jerrili Malabanan, Bia General, and Angela Nunag.
The Flying Titans thanked Viray for her valuable contributions in the past four years which saw the former UST spiker rise to stardom.
"Once a Titan, Always a Titan. Thank you Caitlin for your outstanding contributions to the Choco Mucho Flying Titans. Both on and off the court, your dedication has been invaluable," the team said in a social media post on Wednesday.
"Until we meet again on the other side of the court, best wishes, Titan!"
Viray was a steady presence for Choco Mucho the past conference, averaging 3.11 points per set built on 47 attacks, seven blocks, and two aces as they reached the finals for the first time ever.
Cignal, on the other hand, is looking to reveal a facelift come next season after letting go three players following a bronze medal finish in the previous conference.
Prior to the exit of open hitter Malabanan and liberos General and Nunag, Cignal had already signed veteran defensive specialist Dawn Macandili-Catindig.
