Ara Galang, Aby Maraño move to Chery Tiggo
Chery Tiggo has added firepower to its already stacked roster as the Crossovers signed Ara Galang and Aby Maraño ahead of the 2024 season of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) slated in February.
Chery Tiggo dropped the huge announcement on Tuesday morning as they looked to improve their fourth place finish in the previous conference behind stars Eya and EJ Laure, Mylene Paat, Jen Nierva, and Pauline Gaston.
"I'm very thankful because there is an opportunity like this to play for Chery, and I'm super excited because it's the first time I'll be with different teammates, so I joined a team where I don't know many people," Galang said in a statement published on the league's website.
The move will usher a new era in Galang's decorated volleyball career.
The former De La Salle University standout spent the last seven years with F2 Logistics, where she suited up under the tutelage of college mentor Ramil de Jesus and won a total of four titles while also seizing a number of individual awards including the MVP plum during the 2018 PSL Invitational.
Veteran middle blocker Maraño will also open a new chapter in her long volleyball career but the 31-year-old volleyball ace said joining Chery Tiggo has reignited her excitement as she will get to reunite with some of her former teammates in the national team.
"Actually, I am really excited to be a part of Chery Tiggo. It's like when you're driving, you know, it feels great to accelerate with Chery," she shared.
"At the same time, the players from Chery, I've been with them in the national team—especially Mylene Paat, Jasmine Nabor, Shaya (Adorador), Eya (Laure), (Jennifer) Nierva, and many more. So, I'm excited to be working with these players."
Galang and Maraño are the latest Cargo Movers to find a new home after Ivy Lacsina and Dawn Macandili-Catindig joined Nxled and Cignal respectively following F2 Logistics' disbandment.
