PVL: Choco Mucho flaunts form vs. Petro Gazz
The Choco Mucho Flying Titans proved to have stronger wings after taking down the Petro Gazz Angels, 18-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-16, in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) second All-Filipino Conference on Thursday night at the Filoil Eco Oil Centre in San Juan.
The Flying Titans continue to fly to the second seed after having an identical 6-1 win-loss record with the Chery Tiggo Crossovers, while the Angels are still looking for the daylight as they absorbed their fourth consecutive loss and fell to a 4-4 slate.
In the fourth set, Petro Gazz made a costly miscommunication error after a Thang Ponce dig that gave the Choco Mucho the match point, 24-16. Bea De Leon eventually finished the match with an ace to deny Petro Gazz its chance of redemption.
Meanwhile, the Cignal HD Spikers (6-2) spoiled Jolina Dela Cruz’s career high of 30 points as Cignal only allowed the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers (4-4) to take a one-set win, 25-23, 22-25, 26-24, 26-24.
Tied at 24-all, the HD Spikers escaped the deuce courtesy of back-to-back kills from Jov Gonzaga and Ces Molina to get the win.
Gel Cayuna’s playmaking propelled Cignal to their fifth straight victory as she tallied 22 excellent sets and scored four attack points.
Earlier, the Nxled Chameleons (3-5) eliminated the Galeries Tower High Risers (0-7) via sweep, 25-22, 25-18, 25-17, and snatched back-to-back wins in the conference.
