Philippine women's teams register wins in Asian Games beach volleyball opener

The duo of Dij Rodriguez and Gen Eslapor of the Philippines swept Korea's Shin Jieun and Kim Seyeon, 21-11, 21-6, on Tuesday in the opening day of the 2023 Asian Games beach volleyball tournament in Hangzhou, China.

Aside from Rodriguez and Eslapor's win in Pool A of the women's preliminary round, the Philippines also registered a win in Pool B as Khylem Progella and Grydelle Matibag escaped Hong Kong's To Wing Tung and Wong Man Ching, 17-21, 23-21, 15-13.

On the men's side in Pool B , the duo of Ran Abdilla and Jaron Requinton fell short against Indonesia, 21-13, 16-21, 8-15.

The teams will return to action on Wednesday with Rodriguez and Eslapor facing China in the morning and Kazakhstan in the evening, while Progella and Matibag will go against Indonesia at noontime.

The pair of Jude Garcia and James Buytrago will make their debut against China in the afternoon.
