Philippines falls to Chinese Taipei, finishes 10th overall in AVC Challenge Cup for Men
The Philippine men's national volleyball team finished 10th overall in the AVC Challenge Cup for Men after falling to host country Chinese Taipei, 25-22, 25-17, 26-28, 25-22, in the classification match on Saturday in Taipei.
This is the national team's third loss out of six games in the tournament.
The Philippines was a win away from a quarterfinals slot after sweeping the pool stage. However, the nationals fell to Bahrain in the Round of 12 to be relegated to the classification match.
After falling to Bahrain, the Philippines won against Macau, but lost to Mongolia in a five setter to play for the ninth place.
Despite the results of the tournament, the national team recently was ranked no. 56 from no. 167 in the FIVB rankings.
