Philippine men's volleyball team soars to no. 56 in world rankings
The Philippine men's volleyball team has made a huge progress as it leaped to no. 56 in the latest world rankings released by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) on Wednesday.
The national team, who is currently seeing action in the 2023 AVC Challenge Cup for Men, was previously at no. 167. The big jump also saw the Philippines emerge as the no. 9 team in Asia with 54 points so far.
Poland remained as the world's top-ranked team with 389.75 points while Italy and United Stated sit at the second and third spots, respectively, with 370.01 and 368.79 points.
The Philippines recently bowed out of contention in the AVC tilt after bowing to Bahrain in the Final 12 round in Taiwan. Prior to the loss, the Filipinos swept the pool stage with wins against Mongolia and Macau.
