Sisi Rondina shines in PVL debut as Choco Mucho blanks Farm Fresh

Sisi Rondina lived up to the billing as she steered Choco Mucho to a 25-14, 25-7, 25-16 victory against Farm Fresh on Thursday in the 2023 PVL Invitational Conference at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.

With the former UAAP Most Valuable Player leading the way, the Flying Titans were off to a great start with a 1-0 card while the Foxies slid to a 0-2 slate.

Choco Mucho started to pull away for good when it uncorked the second set with a 13-0 run led by Rondina, her former UST teammate Caitlyn Viray, and setter Deanna Wong as Farm Fresh only managed to convert four attacks in the set.

It was almost the same scenario in the third set when the Dante Alinsunurin-mentored team opened the frame with a 6-0 rampage before Rondina's back-to-back kills saw them up by nine, 14-5.

Rondina, who is making a return to indoor volleyball action after four years, delivered a team-high 14 points together with five excellent receptions while Viray chimed in with 13 markers.

In the opening game, reigning champion Creamline breezely cruised past newcomer Gerflor with a 25-18, 25-11, 25-12 sweep behind another steady performance from Tots Carlos.

Carlos poured in 15 points highlighted by 13 attacks while Jema Galanza chipped in 10 markers.

The Cool Smasher improved to 2-0 while Gerflor fell to 0-1 in its debut game.
