Philippines finishes seventh in AVC Challenge Cup for Women
The Philippine national women's volleyball team finished seventh overall in the AVC Challenge Cup for Women in Indonesia.
The nationals ended their campaign on a high note after winning against Uzbekistan, 25-14, 13-25, 25-18, 25-18, on Sunday in the classification match.
Overall, the Philippines racked up a total of three wins, with the other two against Macau and India, and three losses against Indonesia, Australia, and Iran in the tournament composed of 11 teams.
The Philippine team is bannered by the core of the Akari Power Chargers including Faith Nisperos, Bang Pineda, Michelle Cobb, Ezra Madrigal, Erika Raagas, and Eli Soyud.
The Petro Gazz Angels' Aiza Maizo-Pontillas and Djanel Cheng were also included, along with PLDT’s Jules Samonte, Foton’s Shaya Adorador and collegiate standouts AC Miner and Roma Mae Doromal of Ateneo de Manila University and Lia Pelaga and Riza Nogales of University of the East.
