Jovelyn Gonzaga reunites with Rachel Anne Daquis, rejoins Cignal
Jovelyn Gonzaga is returning to PVL, this time for a different yet familiar team.
The seasoned opposite hitter is tipped to make a comeback to her old team, Cignal, ahead of the 2023 Invitational Conference set for next month. The HD Spikers announced the development on Wednesday as Gonzaga's former team, Army, will skip the upcoming tourney.
With the move, Gonzaga will reunite with her longtime friend Rachel Anne Daquis as well as her former national team coach Shaq delos Santos, who now calls the shots for the HD Spikers.
Gonzaga played for Cignal from 2017 to 2020 in the PSL while also suiting up for Army from 2019 until the 2022 PVL Reinforced Conference as she's a member of the military.
The 31-year-old lefty spiker missed the recent All-Filipino Conference to focus on her national team duty for the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia.
She will be a big boost for the HD Spikers, who finished sixth in the previous tourney with a 3-5 win-loss card, as she joins a stacked roster led by Daquis, Ces Molina, Roselyn Doria, Jheck Dionela, Ria Meneses, and Gel Cayuna.
