Faith Nisperos foregoes final collegiate year, turns pro with Akari commitment
Ateneo de Manila University volleyball standout Faith Nisperos is foregoing her final playing year in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the university said Nisperos will be turning pro as she ends her academic life in the Ateneo.
"We thank her for being a model student-athlete embodying the One Big Fight spirit inside and outside the court," Ateneo said.
"We fully believe that Faith will continue to inspire volleyball athletes and fans in Ateneo and beyond in the years to come, all for the greater glory of God, ad majorem Dei gloriam."
In a social media post, Nisperos said she may not have had the legacy of championships, her legacy will be the faith and fight in her.
"My legacy is having FAITH & FIGHT in me. No result could ever tame down the pride of knowing you gave your all every chance you got," she wrote in the caption of her post.
As the announcement was made public, Nisperos' management agency Virtual Playground also announced her commitment to the Akari Chargers in the Premier Volleyball League.
In her final season in the UAAP, the Blue Eagles missed the Final Four bus as it ended with a 4-10 record.
Nisperos has been with the Katipunan-based squad since the halted 82nd season of the league.
