Eya Laure shines as UST deals La Salle first loss; FEU downs UE

University of Santo Tomas took down the erstwhile undefeated De La Salle University, 25-19, 14-25, 25-18, 25-12, on Sunday in the UAAP Season 85 women's volleyball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Eya Laure dropped 29 points (29 attacks) while Milena Alessandrini chalked up 20 points from 17 attacks and three blocks to improve the Golden Tigresses' standings to 7-3.

Angel Canino posted 13 points, making her the only double-digit scorer in the Lady Spikers' loss which handed them a 9-1 card.

The win of the España-based squad snapped La Salle's nine-game winning streak and avoided a stepladder post-season in the tourney.

Earlier, Far Eastern University survived the winless University of the East, 25-16, 18-25, 25-23, 25-16, to move to 5-5.

In the men's division, UE stunned FEU, 19-25, 25-18, 23-25, 25-20, 15-10, to improve to 3-7 while the Tamaraws went down to 6-4.

UAAP action will return on April 12 with University of the Philippines facing Ateneo de Manila University and National University going against Adamson University.
