La Salle completes first round sweep with dominant win against NU; Adamson downs UP

De La Salle University completed a sweep of the first round of UAAP Season 85 women's volleyball after a dominant win against National University, 25-10, 25-15, 25-21, on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Rookie Angel Canino again provided the goods for the Lady Spikers with 14 points while Fifi Sharma and Jolina dela Cruz chipped in 12 and 11 points each for their seventh straight win. Mars Alba proved to be crucial for the Taft-based squad's win as she made 20 excellent sets on top of her three-point output.
Mhicaela Belen was the only Lady Bulldog who tallied double digits as she made 12 points. With the loss, NU went down to 5-2.
Earlier, Adamson University took down University of the Philippines in a sweep, 25-18, 25-17, 25-23. Kate Santiago led the Lady Falcons in offense with 16 points. With the win, Adamson improved to 5-2 while UP went down to 1-6.
In men's play, Adamson blanked UP, 25-16, 25-19, 25-22, to barge into the winning column, while NU remained undefeated after a sweep of La Salle (4-3), 25-21, 25-21, 25-16.
The second round of UAAP volleyball will start on Saturday.
