Adamson rookie Trisha Tubu's impressive showing earns her UAAP Player of the Week nod

Adamson University rookie Trisha Tubu is already making waves two weeks in the UAAP Season 85 women's volleyball tournament.

In the Lady Falcons' wins against the University of Santo Tomas and Ateneo de Manila University, Tubu averaged 18 points per game to earn the nod of the Collegiate Press Corps and be the UAAP Player of the Week.

Tubu tallied 13 points in the straight sets win over UST last March 8 and had 23 points against their sweep against the Blue Eagles.

Despite the impressive showing, Tubu is still motivated by her teammates to do more.

"Nag-i-enjoy lang po kami lagi sa game. Lagi rin po akong nire-remind ng coaches and teammates ko na maglaro lang and marami pa po akong kayang gawin. 'Yun ang sinasabi nila palagi sa akin," said Tubu after their win against Ateneo.

("We are just enjoying the game. I'm always reminded by my coaches and teammates to just play, and I have a lot I can still show. That's what they always tell me.")

Adamson head coach Jerry Yee also praised Tubu's showing.

"Lagot kayo rookie lang yan," Yee said about Tubu during their match against Far Eastern University last March 4. "So may mga playing years pa siya. I'm very happy na bumalik siya to help us out. Ang laking tulong."

("Watch out for that rookie... She still has playing years. I'm very happy she came back to help us out. She's a big help.")

Tubu bested teammate Kate Santiago, National University's Alyssa Solomon and Sheena Turing, and De La Salle University's Thea Gagate and Angel Canino for the award, presented by San Miguel Corporation and the Philippine Sports Commission, and minor sponsors MNL Kingpin, Tinapayan Festival, and Jockey.
