Akari keeps semis bid alive after takedown of Chery Tiggo in five-setter; Petro Gazz eliminates Army
The Akari Chargers kept their semis bid alive after outlasting the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in a five-setter, 16-25, 25-22, 19-25, 25-21, 15-11, on Saturday in the 2023 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
Dindin Santiago-Manabat unloaded 26 points against her former team while Chiara Permentilla added 18 points in the Akari win which improved their standings to 2-4.
Mylene Paat had 19 points for the Crossovers, while EJ Laure made 14 points in the loss which brought them down to 3-3.
Earlier, the Petro Gazz Angels swept Army-Black Mamba, 25-21, 25-10, 25-13, with MJ Philips leading the Angels with 16 points.
The win handed Petro Gazz a 4-2 card while Army was booted out from contention after still being winless in six games.
PVL action will return on Tuesday with PLDT going against Creamline and F2 taking on Choco Mucho at the PhilSports Arena.
