Creamline says no surgery needed for Alyssa Valdez injury

Creamline can heave a sigh of relief as Alyssa Valdez won't be needing major surgery after hurting her right knee in their bronze medal game against Chery Tiggo in the 2022 PVL Reinforced Conference on Tuesday.

"Creamline Cool Smashers management would like to inform everyone that after reviewing the MRI result, the doctors have advised several weeks of rest and rehabilitation for our team captain," the team said in a statement.

"Thank God that no surgery will be needed."

Valdez went for a dive to save a ball in the early part of the third set and was immediately helped off the court. She was not able to return to the game but the Cool Smashers still pulled off a 25-15, 25-19, 23-25, 25-21 win to finish at the podium.

Fortunately, the veteran hitter will only be needing rest to recover from her injury.

"Management will ensure that Alyssa gets the best possible care and treatment for her to come back stronger in due time."
