Cignal escapes Petro Gazz in five-setter; PLDT sweeps Akari


The race for the playoffs tightens as the Cignal HD Spikers and the PLDT High Speed Hitters notched wins in the 2022 PVL Reinforced Conference on Thursday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Cignal escaped the Petro Gazz Angels in five sets, 25-22, 34-32, 15-25, 16-25, 15-13, to improve to 3-2 in the standings.

Import Tai Bierria tallied 19 points while Ces Molina led the locals with 13 points.

Meanwhile, Angels' Lindsey Vander Weide had 29 points in the loss which gave them a 3-2 card.

PLDT, meanwhile, swept the Akari Chargers, 25-11, 25-21, 25-19, to get their second win in six games. Elena Samoilenko had 20 points, while Mika Reyes had 15 points.

Akari's Prisilla Rivera had 23 points in the loss, which brought them down to 2-5.

PVL action will return on Saturday with Creamline going against UAI-Army and Petro Gazz trying to bounce back against the Chery Tiggo Crossovers.
