Creamline sweeps KingWhale Taipei to win PVL Invitational crown
The Creamline Cool Smashers swept KingWhale Taipei, 25-21, 25-19, 25-8, to claim the PVL Invitational Conference title on Sunday in the tournament finals at the Mall of Asia Arena.
After completing a come-from-behind win in Set 2, the Cool Smashers rode on their momentum and dominated the third set, with Alyssa Valdez getting the championship point.
This is the first time that KingWhale lost in the tournament after sweeping the semis which started Monday. Prior to this, KingWhale got the better of Creamline in the semis in a five-set thriller last Friday.
Tots Carlos, who was named as Most Valuable Player of the conference, tallied 14 points. Jema Galanza added 13 points while Celine Domingo, who was hailed as Finals MVP, had 11 points. Valdez had nine points on top of 13 excellent digs and 8 excellent receptions, while Jia de Guzman had 2 points, 19 excellent sets, and 9 excellent digs.
Flavio de Carvalho led KingWhale with 12 points anchored on 10 attacks and 2 blocks.
Creamline's win will also make them the representatives of the Philippines to the 2022 AVC Cup for Women to be held in the country on August 21-29.

Ces Molina (Cignal) and Alyssa Valdez (Creamline) - Best Outside Spikers
Mika Reyes (PLDT) and Dell Palomata (PLDT) - Best Middle Blockers
Tots Carlos (Creamline) - Best Opposite Spiker
Qui Shi-Qing (KingWhale) - Best Libero
Earlier, the Cignal HD Spikers claimed the bronze medal against the PLDT High Speed Hitters.
