Philippine national volleyball team replaces Kobe Shinwa in PVL Invitational semis
The Philippine women's volleyball team is set to come in as a replacement for Kobe Shinwa Women's University in the ongoing 2022 PVL Invitational Conference semifinals round.
This as the school decided to no longer participate after one of its student-athletes yielded a positive COVID-19 result before flying to the country.
"The Kobe Shinwa Women's University told us that they won't be able to fly to the country last night because one of their players tested positive and the rest of the team were close contacts," said PVL president Ricky Palou on Saturday.
The national team will be bannered by the squad set to represent the Philippines in the 2022 AVC Cup for Women later this month.
"We found a replacement. We talked to Mr. Tats Suzara of the PNVF if he can field the national team to replace the Japanese team. He agreed to it, saying that it would benefit our national team," said Palou.
The national team will make their PVL debut on Monday against Creamline at the Mall of Asia Arena while another guest team in Taipei KingWhale will also play its first game on the same day against Cignal.
