Cignal takes solo lead in five-setter against Choco Mucho, Army-Black Mamba notches first win

The Cignal HD Spikers and Army-Black Mamba notched wins in Thursday's matches of the 2022 PVL Invitational Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

After being down two sets, Cignal turned the tables and defeated the Choco Mucho Flying Titans in a five-setter, 24-26, 19-25, 25-16, 25-21, 15-11.

Ces Molina tallied 17 points and 26 excellent receptions, while Glaudine Trongoso and Ria Meneses added 13 and 12 points, respectively. The Cignal win spoiled Kat Tolentino's 31-point output for the Flying Titans.

With the win, Cignal took the solo lead with two wins.

Meanwhile, Jovelyn Gonzaga had 23 points to lead Army-Black Mamba to a 25-22, 25-16, 21-25, 25-23 win against the Petro Gazz Angels. The win was Army-Black Mamba's first in the conference and kept Petro Gazz winless in two games.

PVL returns on Saturday with the PLDT High Speed Hitters taking on the Creamline Cool Smashers at 2:30 p.m., and Chery Tiggo facing Cignal HD at 5:30 p.m. in the same venue. – RC, GMA News
