Ateneo ousts UST to set up duel with La Salle

Ateneo de Manila University’s title defense bid is still alive.

Ateneo on Tuesday eliminated third-seeded University of Santo Tomas, 25-23, 25-23, 25-20, in their stepladder match in the UAAP Season 84 women’s volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Faith Nisperos listed 23 points off 17 attacks, four aces, and two blocks for the Katipunan-based squad.

With the win, Ateneo will face De La Salle University, a team with a twice-to-beat incentive, in the next phase of the stepladder on Thursday.

The winner of the said series will face National University which is already waiting in the finals.
