NU punches Final Four ticket with rout of UE; Ateneo deals UST first sweep loss
National University has punched its Final Four ticket after making quick work of lackluster University of the East, 25-14, 25-17, 25-15, in the UAAP Season 84 women's volleyball tournament on Tuesday.
The Lady Bulldogs will make its first Final Four appearance for the first time since 2017 when they reached Season 80 semifinals where they fell to eventual champion De La Salle University.
The towering duo of Ivy Lacsina and Alyssa Solomon provided the spark for NU, finishing with 13 points each while Princess Robles and Sheena Toring added 10 each. Rookie Michaela Belen added nine while also chipping in seven excellent receptions as NU improved to 10-0.
Meanwhile, Ateneo de Manila University picked up their biggest win so far in the season after sweeping the streaking University of Santo Tomas, 25-20, 25-20, 25-20, for an improved 5-5 card.
Faith Nisperos was simply unstoppable with her 18 points built on 15 attacks, two service aces, and a block while Vanie Gandler had 12 markers as they dealt UST its first sweep loss to slide to 7-3.
De La Salle University and Adamson University both earned sweep wins with disposal of University of the Philippines and Far Eastern University, respectively.
The Lady Archers ran away with a 25-21, 25-23, 25-21 victory over UP while Adamson had a similar 25-17, 25-17, 25-16 drubbing of FEU.
