Jaja Santiago, Ageo Medics fall to JT Marvelous; Espejo, Bagunas sit out

Jaja Santiago and the Saitama Ageo Medics failed to make it back-to-back wins after absorbing a straight-sets romp from the hands of defending champion JT Marvelous, 21-25, 25-21, 25-17, in the Japan V. League on Saturday.

The Filipina import had a cold offense, finishing with just six points off four attacks and two blocks as Ageo Medics went down to 16-11 while JT Marvelous remained on top with an impressive 23-5 card.

Mami Uchiseto dropped 13 points while Tisheira Lorenne poured in nine markers in the losing cause.

Meanwhile, both Marck Espejo and Bryan Bagunas sat out Saturday's games as their teams saw contrasting results.

Espejo's FC Tokyo survived VC Nagano Tridents in four sets, 23-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-20, as they improved to 9-21. The former Ateneo spiker was included in the roster but did not see action on the taraflex.

Same was the case for Bagunas, whose Oita Miyoshi fell to Panasonic Panthers in straight sets, 16-25, 16-25, 11-25, with teammate Emerson Rodriguez carrying the load for them.

Emerson carved out 12 points while Kota Yamada had seven markers as they slid to 5-26.
