National volleyball team skipper John Vic De Guzman now a Philippine Air Force reservist

From taraflex to the real battlefield, John Vic De Guzman is always up to represent the flag.

In an Instagram post, the national volleyball team skipper shared his military journey where he joined the Philippine Air Force Reservist Military Camp and underwent the Special Basic Citizen Military Training (SBCMT).

The former NCAA standout admitted it wasn't easy balancing his commitment to the flag, especially that the national team is now preparing for the Southeast Asian Games in May, with his military duties.

But still, De Guzman said everything was worth it.

"Basta para sa Bayan - handa ko po kayong paglingkuran," the high-leaping opposite spiker said.

"The past weeks had been so challenging, juggling National Volleyball Team training and Philippine Air Force Reservist Military camp training at the same time. But I must say it's all worth it [because] not everyone is given the opportunity to represent and serve their country."

Aside from De Guzman, national team open spiker Mark Alfafara also underwent the training camp.

In a previous interview, men's national team head coach Dante Alinsunurin said they are eyeing to conduct training in Qatar as they look to eclipse their silver medal finish during the 2019 SEA Games.
