Bagunas scores 13 in Oita's straight sets loss; Espejo, FC Tokyo absorb fourth straight defeat
Filipino standouts Bryan Bagunas and Marck Espejo and their respective teams suffered setbacks on Sunday in the Japan V.League.
Bagunas and his team Oita Miyoshi were swept by the Wolfdogs Nagoya, 25-20, 25-18, 25-20, with Bagunas making 13 points in the loss.
The loss came a day after Oita outlasted Nagoya in a five-setter on Saturday. With the loss, Oita dropped to 5-17.
Bartosz Kurek led the offensive for Nagoya with 19 attacks, 3 blocks, and 2 aces for 24 points.
Meanwhile, Espejo's squad FC Tokyo lost to the JTEKT Stings, 25-22, 25-10, 26-24. Espejo had eight points in FC Tokyo's fourth straight loss which gave them a 6-16 card.
Luiz Felipe Fonteles listed 12 attacks for the JTEKT win.
Bagunas and Espejo will face each other next week as both teams try to bounce back from Sunday's losses.
