Jho Maraguinot, seven more players join BaliPure for 2022 PVL season
After the disbandment of the Perlas volleyball team, Jho Maraguinot has found her way to the BaliPure Purest Water Defenders.
Maraguinot, a product of the Ateneo de Manila women's volleyball program, will lead the Water Defenders for the upcoming season of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), along with the team's holdovers Graze Bombita, Bern Flora, Gyra Barroga, Gen Casugod, and Sati Espiritu. Alina Bicar will also rejoin the team after a short stint with the Petro Gazz Angels for the PNVF Champions League.
Aside from Maraguinot, seven more players will join the BaliPure squad.
Jamie Lavitoria, formerly from Choco Mucho, will join fellow Atenean Maraguinot in the team. Former BaliPure players Alyssa Eroa and Janine Marciano will suit up again for the Water Defenders, while Cignal's Julia Ipac and Rafril Aguilar join the squad. On top of them, BaliPure will also welcome Marian Buitre and Patty Orendain.
BaliPure team manager Gil Cortez said that with the new additions, the team will have better balance.
"It's a balanced team compared to last year," said Cortez. "Last year, our offense revolved around Graze, Flora, and Barroga."
BaliPure finished 8th out of 10 teams in the 2021 Open Conference.
