Creamline, Choco Mucho stay unbeaten; BaliPure scores another upset win

Creamline and Choco Mucho remain as the only unbeaten teams in the 2021 PVL Open Conference.

The Cool Smashers made quick work of the struggling PLDT, 25-16, 25-12, 25-13, to grab their fourth straight win Sunday in the bubble tournament being held at the PCV Socio-Civic Cultural Center in Ilocos Norte.

Team captain Alyssa Valdez was the sole player in double-digits after the 5-foot-9 open hitter put up 16 points, all of which were anchored on attacks.

Michele Gumabao carved out nine markers while Jema Galanza contributed 8 points to go with 13 digs and nine excellent receptions.

Meanwhile, it was also a sweep for the surging Choco Mucho.

The Flying Titans asserted mastery over the debuting Perlas Spikers, 25-23, 25-20, 25-20, for their third win in the contest.

Ponggay Gaston was impressive anew with her nine points while also making her presence felt on the defense as she tallied 22 digs and five receptions.

In the last game of a triple-header Sunday, BaliPure continued to prove to be the dark horse of the Open Conference.

The Water Defenders pulled off another upset win, this time against the skidding Cignal, 21-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-22, to nail their second win.

BaliPure was coming off another huge win against then top-seeded Chery Tiggo to barge into the win column.
