Top Brazilian coach tapped for Philippine women's volleyball team
Brazilian tactician Jorge Edson Souza de Brito will now be calling the shots for the Philippine women's national volleyball team.
The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) on Monday bared that the seasoned mentor is now at the helm following the issuance of grant from the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).
"We are thankful for the FIVB’s quick response to our request and we are more thankful that the federation picked an excellent man for the job," PNVF president Ramon "Tats" Suzara said.
"With coach Jorge's vast experience as a coach and player, we are very sure that we will get the technology transfer we have aspired for," he added.

Suzara said FIVB will subsidize Souza de Brito's salary.
The development came on the heels of a three-day tryout that the federation staged in Subic in its bid to form the national teams for the 2021 Southeast Asian Games late this year.
Souza de Brito, 54, was a member of the Brazilian squad that captured the gold medal in the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona.
He has also patrolled the sidelines for several clubs in the Brazilian league from 2002 onwards while also winning titles in Turkey and Japan.
Souza de Brito will work closely for two years with Odjie Mamon, who was initially hired to coach the Philippine women's team.
