Odjie Mamon named head coach of Philippine women's volleyball team
Odjie Mamon has been named by the newly-formed Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) as the head coach of the women's national team.
The federation made the announcement on Thursday.
Grace Antigua and former Ateneo head coach Tai Bundit will assist Mamon in the women's team.
Meanwhile, Dante Alinsunurin, who steered the men's national team to a silver finish in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, will retain his post as head coach. Ariel dela Cruz and Sherwin Meneses will be a part of his coaching staff.
The PNVF said the two coaches will primarily focus on the country's campaign in the upcoming SEA Games in Hanoi.
"Our appointed coaches will do whatever it takes to assemble the best ever team in the SEA Games with their vast coaching experience even during this situation," PNVF president Tats Suzara said in a statement.
"So we're confident Volleyball Philippines is in good hands," he added.
Mamon is currently the head coach of the University of Santo Tomas men's volleyball team, while Alinsunurin handles the men's volleyball team of National University.
Rhovyl Verayo and Paul John Doloiras will coach the men's and women's beach volleyball team, respectively. —Justin Kenneth Carandang/MGP, GMA News
