How much will Alex Eala earn from the Miami Open?


Alex Eala has been making waves in the ongoing Miami Open.

On early Thursday, Eala pulled off an upset against world no. 2 Iga Swiatek, 6-2, 7-5, in the tournament's quarterfinals to set up a clash against world no. 4 Jessica Pegula in the semifinals.

More than the recognition and lessons Eala will bring home from the tournament, the Filipina tennis ace will also earn cash prize from the Miami Open.

According to the Women's Tennis Association website, a prize money worth USD 332,160 will be given to semifinalists.

A finalist will get USD 597,890, while the champion will win USD 1,124,380.

Aside from cash prize, Eala will also earn ranking points.

A semifinalist will get 390 points, while a finalist will have 650 points. A total of 1000 points will be given to the champion.

Eala is currently ranked 140th by the WTA, but is expected to enter the top 100 after taking down three Grand Slam champions, including world no. 2 Iga Swiatekn, en route to the semis.

She will face Pegula in the semifinals on Friday morning.
