Alex Eala to face Jessica Pegula in Miami Open semis

Alex Eala will face Jessica Pegula in the Miami Open semifinals.

WTA no. 4 Pegula defeated Emma Raducanu, 6-4, 6(3)-7(7), 6-2 on Thursday in the tournament's quarterfinals.

Pegula reached the finals of the 2024 US Open where she fell to world no. 1 Aryna Sabalenka.

The American player has also reached the quarterfinals of Australian Open (2021, 2022, 2023), French Open (2022), and Wimbledon (2023).

Eala defeated world no. 2 Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinals to book a semis spot.

The other semis bracket, meanwhile, will have Sabalenka go against Italian player Jasmine Paolini.

The semis is scheduled on Friday morning (Philippine time).
