Nadal proud of Alex Eala's dream run in Miami Open: 'Let's keep dreaming!'

Tennis icon Rafael Nadal only had encouraging words for Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala after the latter pulled off an upset against Iga Swiatek in the Miami Open.

Eala stunned Swiatek, 6-2, 7-5, in the quarterfinals to book a slot in the semis.

"We are extremely proud of you, Alex. What an incredible tournament! Let’s keep dreaming," Nadal wrote in his post on X (formerly Twitter).

Eala studied in the Rafa Nadal Academy where she graduated in 2023. In that ceremony two years ago, Swiatek was there as a guest.

Before Swiatek, Eala has also taken down two Grand Slam champions in former 2017 French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko during the Round of 64 and reigning Australian Open champion Madison Keys in the Round of 32.

Eala now awaits the winner of the quarterfinals match between Emma Raducanu and Jessica Pegula to determine her semis opponent.
