Alex Eala pulls off upset vs American foe, advances to Miami Open Round of 64

Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala pulled off an upset against American Katie Volynets, 6-3, 7-6(3), on Wednesday (Miami time) in the Round of 128 of the Miami Open.
Eala, ranked no. 140 by WTA, defeated the no. 73 Volynets to advance to the Round of 64. This is also her first win in the Miami Open main draw.
The Filipina star, however, will have a tougher opponent in the said round as she will go against 2017 French Open champion and WTA doubles no. 5 and singles no. 25 Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia.
Ostapenko had a bye in the first round which allowed her to make her first appearance in the Round of 64.
Eala has yet to win a singles tournament this year.
