Alex Eala 'disappointed' after early exit from Australian Open, promises to be back
Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala made an early exit in the Australian Open as she fell to Croatia's Jana Fett, 7-5, 6-2, in the first round of the qualifying draw last Tuesday.
On Thursday, Eala said she was disappointed with her early exit.
"Sadly, my run in this year’s Australian Open is much shorter than I’d hoped," she wrote in the caption of her social media post. "Disappointed to say the least, but that’s tennis - constantly falling down and picking yourself up, week by week, believing one day you’ll end up on top."
Despite this, Eala said she will eventually bounce back.
"So much love for you Melbourne. I’ll be back."
Eala recently reached a career-high WTA ranking of no. 138, according to the updated ranking released last January 6.
